A brief History of Norwich Bar Billiards

Circa 2006?
The Rosary and King's Head both have bar billiards tables, form teams and start playing matches.
Circa 2007/8?
The Golden Star gets a table and forms a team.
The Rosary closes.

2009
The White Lion gets a table and forms a team.
The Golden Star gains a second team - The Black Stars.
The league consists of The King's Head, The White Lion, The Golden Star and the Black Stars.
King's Head wins the 2009 league.
First singles tournament takes place and is won by Dave B.
Dave and Phil start helping with the running of the league.
V1 of Norwichbarbillards.co.uk launches using a content management system called wordserver (basically nested tables).
2010
The Black Stars win the league.
Dave B wins the Singles tournament again.
2011
The Cottage gets a table, forms a team and wins the league!
Note: This result is disputed. At the point it was decided to end the 2011 league, some teams had not played all their matches (a common problem until an enforced deadline was introduced). One of the outstanding matches was The Cottage vs the King's Head (second in the table). This match was played after the league finished (and no score sheet was ever submitted) with the King's Head winning. This is why the website reflects the Cottage's victory and the division 1 trophy has the King's Head as league champions.

2012
The White Lion gains two more teams.
The league consists of King's Head, White Lion A, White Lion B, White Lionesses, Golden Star, Black Stars, and The Cottage.
King's Head wins the league.
The singles tournament returns and is won (and organised) by Carl R.

The Plasterers Arms and Pig and Whistle get tables and enters teams into the league.
The league now consists of 10 teams.

1st East Anglian 4-Pin Bar Billiards 'Open' is held in Norwich, orgainised by Carl R.
norwichbarbilliards.co.uk is redesigned using bootstrap.
2014
The 2013/2014 league is won by the King's Head.
The first AGM takes place (organised by Carl R). It is decided to split the league in to two divisions of 5 teams.
White Lion A and B teams amalgamate into one team: The White Lions.
The Plasterers Arms gain a second team: the Plasterers B-yonce
The King's Head gain a second team: the King's Nits.
King's Head win division 1.
The Pig and Whistle win division 2.
No singles tournament.

2015
The Cottage shuts but the table and team moves to the Coach & Horses.
King's Head win division 1.
White Lions win division 2.
The Cup competition is introduced and is won by the King's Head.
The singles tournament returns and is won by Dave B for a third time.
2016
The Pig & Whistle closes. The team moves to the Coach & Horses and become known as the Coach & Horses B
The White Lion gains a third team: The White Lion Cubs.
Division 1 now has 5 teams, division 2 has 6 teams.
King's Head win division 1.
King's Nits win division 2.
Ray L wins the singles tournament
The Plate competition is introduced.
The Golden Star win the Cup.

2017
The Ship joins the league. Divisions 1 and 2 now consists of 6 teams each.
King's Head win division 1.
Dad's Army win division 2.
Nathan and Fraser take over running the singles tournament. Dave E is the eventual winner.

The latest iteration of Norwichbarbilliards.co.uk goes live. Now utilising CSS Grid and Flexbox.
2018
The Ship's table moves to South Walsham village hall, the team moves with and becomes the Vikings.
The Woolpack Yard gains a table. Dad's Army moves there.
The Plasterers loses their table. The Plasterfarians move to the Woolpack and becomes the Baasterfarians.
The Plasters' B-Yonce moves to the Coach and Horses and becomes the Coach and B-yonce.
The league remains at 12 teams and 6 venues.

Black Stars win the Cup.
White Lions win the Plate.

2019
Tommo and Nathan organise the 2019 singles tournament.
Dave Edwards wins the singles tournament
The Rose Inn starts a team and joins the league. The league now consists of 13 teams, six in Division 1 and seven in Divison 2, the most we've ever had.
Dad's Army moves to The Rose Inn.
The Baasterfarians move to the King's Head and becomes the Disasterfarians.
Golden Star win division 1 for the first time.
The Rose, in their first season, win division 2.
Dad's Army win the Cup for the second time, making them the first two time cup winners.
The Black Stars win the Plate becoming the first team to win divison 1, divsion 2, the Cup and the Plate.
Netmatters kindly start provide hosting for the website.
2020
Tommo and Fraser organise the 2020 singles tournament but the finals and the 2020 league are suspened due to a global pandemic.
King's Nits changes their name to International Brigade
2021
Andy Fidler wins the (much delayed) 2020 singles tournament.

The League finally returns.
The White Lionesses and White Lion Cubs disband and the remaining players merge to form Serengeti.
The Rose win the Plate, beating the International Brigade
Dad's Army win Division two
King's Head and Golden Stars both finish top of Division one, drawing on points and frame difference.
The Golden Stars win the Cup
2023
The Rose hosts the first AGM since 2020
The White Lion adds a third team again - White Lion Manes - featuring players who previously played for White Lionesses, White Lion Cubs, Serengeti and Black Stars.
The Cottage on Silver Road gains a table, the Coach & B-yonce move there and become Cottagecore
The League now has six teams in Division 1 and seven teams in Division 2.
Golden Stars win the Divison one.
Serengeti wins Divison two.
Dad's Army win the Cup.
International Brigade win the Plate.
2024
Dad's Army move to the Marlborough Arms, bringing the number of venues up to eight.
A new team joins the league - Flamers - based at the Coach and Horses.
The League now has seven teams in Division 1 and seven teams in Division 2. With fourteen teams and eight venues this is the largest the league has ever been!
Golden Stars win the Divison one and the Cup.
Vikings win Divison two.
International Brigade win the Plate and become the first team achieve back to back victories .
The Artichoke and Norwich VR gain tables
2025
The singles tournament returns! The first since 2020! Nathan and Fraser take point with Dave and Phil assisting. For the first time the tournament is raising money for a charity, the Big C.
Two new teams and two new venues join the league! The Artichoke Hearts playing from the Artichoke and Norwich VR based at Norwich VR. This means there are now 16 teams and 10 venues!
